From Farm to Table: Apple Fritter French Toast with Caramel Syrup
Besides being a mother and working with children, I've always dreamed of owning my own Bed & Breakfast. I remember planning out my B&B business while visiting with my great-grandparents as a child. I've been blessed with such an awesome, supportive family. They're equal parts loving, quirky, loyal, and fun!
On that particular day, my great-grandmother, Jimmie, could've listened to me jabber on and on, about that imaginary B&B, all day long. From the number of rooms it would have to the color of the towels, she just sat there, truly fascinated and curious, asking me questions and nodding her approval. I miss her. I'd like to believe that my love of breakfast foods and sweets came from her. Every single meal served around her table was nothing short of a feast, but her breakfasts stand out the most to me and what's a Bed & Breakfast without that first morning meal? So in the recent months leading up to now, I've been expanding my culinary breakfast capabilities past the regular go-to choices: eggs (any style), pancakes, Belgium waffles, oatmeal, cereal, etc. The following recipe is a delicious twist on French toast. The recipe is not my own; I found it on Julie Blanner's blog and I'll leave a link to that down below. I did tweak the recipe a bit, however, to make it my own. I'd love to hear about your experiences with the recipe or see pictures of your own Apple Fritter French Toast creations or, if you chose to tweak the recipe as well, I'd love to learn about the changes you made to make it unique to you and your family's liking. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
So without further ado...
